Report: Telegram’s lawyer says service’s request delivered late

MOSCOW, Oct 24 (PRIME) -- Telegram Messenger, an operator of the popular messenger, received with a delay a request from Russia’s Federal Security Service to provide data to disclose users’ correspondence, business daily Kommersant reported on Tuesday, quoting company lawyer Pavel Chikov.

“The Federal Security Service asked Telegram on July 12 to send correspondence of several users by July 19. But Russian Post delivered the letter only on July 21,” Chikov said.

Russian Post CEO Nikolai Podguzov said earlier that the company lacks postmen and operators to improve quality of its work.

Earlier in October, a Moscow district magistrate’s court fined Telegram 800,000 rubles for its refusal to provide the Federal Security Service with information to decode messages.
